Criss Cross Outfield Drill: This
Criss Cross Outfield Drill: This is an easy drill to help work with your outfielders work on tracking and catching fly balls, to then set up to make a throw to a base.

Setup of Drill: Divide your players into 2 groups and have one group start in left field and the other group start in right field. Have two coaches ready to hit fly balls to the groups in the outfield. Have 2 other coaches or other players, one on 2nd base and the other on 3rd base. Optional - Have a empty bucket beside each coach/player.

Step 1: Have one coach start hitting fly balls to their players in the outfield. As soon as one coach hits the ball, the other coach should hit a fly ball to the other group. The balls should be hit right after each other, so the balls being hit, look like they are criss crossing each other.

Step 2: One player on the left field side, should track and catch the fly ball, plant their feet, to get ready to throw the ball after it’s caught to 3rd base to try and get the runner out. The other player on the right field side will also track and catch the ball, plant their feet, to also get ready to throw the ball after it’s caught to 2nd base.

Step 3: Players will keep going one at a time, catching the fly balls. When the coaches hitting the balls, runs out of balls. A player will take the bucket to the coaches hitting the fly balls, and start over. After a couple reps, have the left field group switch with the right field group.
