NOTES:

1. Know your numbers
- Gut (24hr)
- Brain (ketones are neuroprotective)
- Liver (longer fasts release of stored sugars) (36 -48hr)

2. Know the end result you are looking for
- Inflammation goes down on the cell membrane.
- Helps with cells being able to bring T3 into the cells

3. Understand the detox effect of fasting & what it can do to your thyroid
- Autophagy vs. Apoptosis
- Redistribution of toxins
- BIND

4. What the research shows
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...

- In Ramadan, minimal changes are observed in the levels of T3, T4, and TSH in a normal person.[2] --- Few studies have shown that T4 decreases significantly during fasting in Ramadan in both genders, while TSH increases significantly in male subjects, although TSH and T4 levels stay within the normal ranges.
- There is a positive correlation between T4 changes and number of days of fasting in women. Most of these changes revert back to pre-Ramadan levels once fasting is over.

5. Will fasting affect your medications?
- The amount absorbed decreases from 80% in the fasting state to 60% in the fed state.[11]
- So, when taken with food, the absorption of levothyroxine is incomplete, resulting in variable and higher TSH levels.
- Standard drug information resources recommend that levothyroxine should be taken half an hour before breakfast on an empty stomach, to prevent interference of its intestinal uptake by food or medication
- Although there are essentially no data on the adjustment of treatment protocols of patients with thyroid diseases, we have proposed that hypothyroid patients can take their thyroxine at bedtime or a  half an hour before Sehr.

6. Which fast would I recommend?
Depends on which organ you are trying to heal...Look at your numbers:

1.  Blood work is normal, but you have all the symptoms of a thyroid problem:
-lower cell inflammation with intermittent fasting daily

2. Not converting T4 to T3
-24-hour fasts to heal the gut
-36-hour fasts to heal the liver

3. Thyroid antibodies
-24-hour fasts to heal the gut

4. TSH & T4 issues
-toxicity issue
-more autophagy fasting (17hrs)

5. High RT3
-minimal fasting
-heal adrenals
