How do you handle your opponent's hard, flat, deep balls in tennis? You don't have time to back up, or if you do you're hopelessly out of position way back behind the baseline.
When someone hits these power shots in tennis against you, you have to get down to the ball and match their power with a fast swing. The ball will not come up to you and if you try to slow the ball down by slowing down your own swing, you're in trouble.
On the tennis forehand, "sit" low and brush heavily against the incoming ball. Don't try to change direction in this situation as you're on defense. You can still hit an aggressive ball back but I suggest to go with the higher percentage shot cross-court.
Shorten your take-back if you have to and you may have to change your follow-through as well.
