Bollywood actor Gagan Malik ordained at Buddhist temple in Bangkok.
Gagan Malik is the actor playing “Prince Siddhartha” in the famous movie “Shri Siddhartha Gautama”. Bollywood actor Gagan Malik who played Prince Siddhartha entered monkhood at Wat That Thong with his monk name “Asoko” meaning the one who is free of sadness.He said he entered monkhood to study the code of conduct of Buddhists because he planned to later share the experience to Indian people.He said he did not want to convert Indian people to Buddhism but he only intended to bring Buddhism back to the homeland of Lord Buddha.
On 10 February 2022, Gagan Malik ordained at Wat That Thong Temple in Bangkok, Thailand. His short-termed monkhood will last for 15 days which he would take the opportunity to further study the teachings of Buddhism in Thailand
