Normal DPF regeneration observed while
Normal DPF regeneration observed while driving. DPF regen started at 100% soot level (Normalized trigger for PF regen: 100%) and I drove at 70-90 kmh without stopping. DPF regen took 10 minutes, finished at 14% soot level (Normalised trigger for PF regen)
Car Scanner app should show DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and AdBlue parameters in ALL cars in EURO 6d-TEMP norm, look for "Normalized trigger for PF regen"
In another video I checked DPF soot with Car Scanner in BMW G20 318d and Opel Insignia 2.0 CDTI 2018: EURO6d diesel car - AdBlue, NOx, DPF ...
In Volvo XC60 B4 the DPF regen was instantly interrupted when I stopped at red lights:

How to install my dashboard in Car Scanner PRO:
1. Download dashboard.json file to your smartphone
2. Settings / My cars: create New car, then select it
3. Settings / Vehicle options, select your car brand OBD/EOBD profile
4. Settings/ Dashboard / Restore Dashboard: select dashboard.json file in Downloads
5. to achieve faster refresh rate: Settings/Connection/Advanced, activate these options:
- "Optimisation for CAN ISO 15765-4" - OK
- "Optimise UDS requests" - OK
Custom dashboard works best with identical car profile as it was created. You need to select OBD/EOBD profile (Settings - Vehicle options) before restoring .json file as dashboard (Dashboard - restore Dashboard). If you see only empty fields, close and reopen the app. This Dashboard was created in BMW OBD/EOBD profile, but should work in all OBD/EOBD profiles.
Custom dashboard in Car Scanner PRO is like custom skins in Torque Pro.
You can use this dashboard with any other car profile, empty fields in layout need to be manually filled in with sensors from your car profile. It takes only few minutes, very easy.

Adblue level, DPF soot % and NOx trap content in all modern EUR6d-TEMP cars with DPF and AdBlue. I tested and it works in BMW, Opel and Volvo.

If you drive EUR6d 2018+ diesel car, the Car Scanner ELM OBD2 app should show Adblue level, DPF soot % and NOx trap parameters. You need to select basic profile OBD/EOBD of your car brand (BMW, VW, Audi, Ford, Mercedes, etc) in Settings/Connection profile (or more detailed profile for your engine, if available)
Find these sensors:
- DPF regen
- normalised trigger for PF regen % (this is the DPF soot content)
- DEF (diesel additive fluid - AdBlue)
- NOx sensor
- NOx adsorber
Observations:
DPF regen normally starts at 80-100 % PF trigger
Interestingly, after DPF regen started (DPF =2) the PF trigger remains at 100% for 3-4 minutes then rapidly drops to 30-20%
DPF regen (0 = no regen, 1 = passive regen, 2 = active regeneration)
Normalised trigger for (D)PF regen % (soot content % in dpf filter), PF = particle filter
Car Scanner app shows also information about DEF (AdBlue). Car Scanner may come handy when you often get AdBlue warning, emergency turtle mode, or want to know when you should add 5 l or 10 l Adblue fluid. Car Scanner can also read error codes.
Diesel Exhaust Fluid DEF (AdBlue - 32.5% urea and 67.5% water) for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in diesel exhaust gases. AdBlue parameters are especially important in winter as AdBlue fluid solidifies at minus 11.5C and requires heating.
Available DEF parameters:
- AdBlue tank level (litres)
- DEF concentration
- AdBlue tank temperature (especially interesting in winter, when AdBlue fluid requires heating)
- NOx sensor concentration
- commanded DEF dosing %
- average DEF consumption demanded vs actual, l/hour
- DEF usage in current driving cycle

Car Scanner ELM OBD2 app seems a good - but cheaper - alternative to Torque Pro, Carly, Carista, EOBD Facile, Autel, OBD Eleven, OBD Auto Doctor, TechApp, VAG DPF, Ross Tech VCDS. Car Scanner is universal app and can be used in most car brands (VW, TOYOTA, HYUNDAI, KIA, SKODA, VOLVO, RENAULT, MERCEDES and plenty more), unlike more expensive apps that work in only one car brands. It works on iPhone and Android. I have no affiliation with this app, I just use it a lot
