Electric⚡BMW i4, i5, i7, iX, iX1, iX2, i3, iX3 battery temperature 📱Car Scanner ELM OBD2

I recorded short trip in BMW i4 eDrive 40 electric car.
Battery was not heated during normal driving (winter 3 Celsius ambient), but seemed to rise when I selected DC charger in the navigation. My test drive was too short to see significant temperature increase in the battery pack on the way to DC charger. Allegedly battery is heated to 20°C (68°F).

Battery temperature is important during DC fast charging - you get higher charging rate. Now you can see if battery preconditioning works en route to a charger, and how/if battery pack is heated during fast charging.

BMW i4 has unusually strong battery heater: 9 kW.

Allegedly you need to select 150kW+ DC charger in navigation to activate battery preheating (I didn't test it).

Car Scanner works in all new BMW electric vehicles: i4, i5, i7, iX, iX1, iX2, iX3 - but shows only few sensors:
Battery pack temperature
SOC - the true BMS SOC (with bottom and top battery buffers)
SOH - incorrect value
GPS speed and GPS altitude over sea level
OBD Volts:
- over 13.0 V - auxiliary 12V battery is charged
- below 13.0 V - auxiliary 12V battery is discharged (DC-DC converter off)

Car Scanner probably shows these values even in Rolls-Royce Spectre EV (same battery and tech as BMW i7), but I had no opportunity to test RR Spectre.

Settings - Interface Units: switch HP to kW
Settings - Dashboard - Reset dashboard to default (if you changed from other connection profile)
activate GPS speed and GPS location (GPS Altitude-elevation, and visualisation of entire trip on Google maps in Data Recording)
say Yes to suggested optimisations

Always disconnect ELM327 adapter before leaving the car and locking it - otherwise the alarm will go off. And ELM327 may drain the 12v battery overnight - always remove it after use.

Car Scanner ELM OBD2 on Android Auto (unofficial)
you need 2 free apps (not available on Google Play, so in Android Auto settings allow options: Developer mode, Apps from unknown sources). First app to install is AAAD: https://github.com/shmykelsa/AAAD/rel...

Open AAAD, select and install Android Auto Mirror AAM. AAM works for me, you may try other apps on the list. Free AAAD allows to download only 1 app - I selected Android Auto Mirror AAM. Maybe other apps on the list will work better? Let us know in comments.

how to run Car Scanner on Android Auto:
Open Car Scanner and AAM apps on the phone. Connect phone to the car (I used USB-cable), start Android Auto, click AAM icon on Android Auto screen. Car Scanner will be displayed (mirrored) on Android Auto screen - but all Car Scanner touch buttons work only on phone screen. At the end of trip remember to close AAM app and Car Scanner. In AAM settings you can block auto-rotation of the AA screen.

This method probably doesn't work on Apple CarPlay, not sure.
