In this lecture, I have discussed the name reaction i.e. Corey-Chaykovsky reaction or Corey-Chaykovsky epoxidation. This reaction involves the preparation of epoxide using sulfur ylide and carbonyl compounds. More specifically, I have discussed the basic concept and reaction mechanism associated with this methylene transfer reaction. Additionally, based on the nature of sulfur ylides like trimethylsulfonium ylide and trimethylsulfoxonium iodide the reactivity pattern also changes.
