We divide freestyle into three styles: Hip Driven, Shoulder Driven, and Body Driven.

Hip Driven Freestyle: Efficient and used for longer distances
Shoulder Driven Freestyle: Fast and used for sprinting
Body Driven Freestyle: For competitive swimmers to finish a race

Competitive swimmers should “game plan” how they will approach their races using these techniques. Fitness swimmers can use these to mix up their workouts and exercise new muscles.
