Exploring Leh and the amazing Indus Valley on two wheels | Leh-Ladakh cont. (N. India Ep 12)

It was time to explore
It was time to explore the attractions around Leh, and in the Indus Valley, and the best way to achieve this was on two wheels.
First we rented a scooter, like we would usually do, but it quickly became apparent that this would not have the power to get both of us around, mainly due to the thin air at altitudes. We still managed to have a great time exploring the Thiksey Monstery, Phay Monastery and enjoying the wide open roads.
Recognising the limitations of the scooter, we then did like the locals, and rented a Royal Enfield 350! This had more than enough power to get us over the hills, and we raced down the Indus Valley exploring the Alchi Monastery, watched some rafting, and finished our time in this beautiful region at the stunning Shanti Stupa.

Al, from New Zealand and Kel from Australia met through work in 2010 and have been together ever since. Always infected by the travel bug they finally decided to head off on an adventure and started with Vietnam and Laos before heading to Sri Lanka, India, then Cambodia and Indonesia.
