and Welcome to a Traditional Nagpuri Saoji Chicken Curry Episode of ‪@RedSoilStories‬  
It was a fine morning, I was breaking the timber and mother was cleaning rice. Pooja brought tea for mother and asked me if I want some.
Mother asked Pooja about her cousin brother who is in Nagpur, she told her that he is enjoying there and had Saoji Chicken (सावजी चिकन) last night. Saoji Chicken is a famous Chicken Curry Recipe in the Eastern part of Maharashtra, Nagpur. Saoji Chicken includes a lot of Spices and hence it is a spicy yet tasty chicken curry.
I asked Pooja to prepare Saoji Chicken Curry and mother also insisted on the same. Pooja agreed to make the curry and she started preparing the Saoji Masala. In this episode you can also see how to make saoji masala.
She roasted all the spices, chilies etc and ground them in mortar and pestle.
Using this masala she prepare a delicious Nagpuri Saoji Chicken Curry.
After that mother prepared Jwarichi Bhakri ( Sorghum Flour Flat bread )
and then we three enjoyed the lunch together.

Ingredients for Saoji Chicken Curry -
1 Tsp Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
7-8 Velchi (Green Cardamom )
1 Kali Velchi (Black Cardamom )
1 Tsp Black pepper
1/2 Jaifal (Nutmeg)
1 Javitri (Mace)
1 Chakri Phool (Star Anise)
2 Lavang (Clove)
1 Tsp Dagad Phool (Stone Flower)
1 Inch Dalchini (Cinnamon)
1 Tsp Badishep (Fennel Seeds)
1 Tsp Shahi Jeera
4-5 Tamalpatra (Bay Leaves)
2 Tbsp Khas-khas (Poppy Seeds)
2 Tbsp Dhane (Coriander Seeds)
1 Tbsp Jwari Atta
8-9 Red Chillies
1/4th Cut Dry Coconut
Oil
2 Cut Onions
Ginger- Garlic- Fresh Coriander
2 Tbsp Ginger/Garlic paste
1 Kg chicken
1/2 Tsp Haldi Powder
2 Tsp Red Chilli powder
Water
Salt as per taste
Chopped Coriander for garnishing
