Punching with first two knuckles vs the whole fist. I know orthodoxy is first two knuckles, and I don’t disagree, but whole fist has its benefits and I found most people do a lot better doing it this way.

Here’s the pros and cons:

First Two Knuckles:

👍 Pros: Great for precision

👎 Cons: Higher chance of wrist injury and can wear out knuckles over the years

Whole Knuckle:

👍 Pros: Larger surface area, easier to land punches, keeps wrist fixed, added benefit of correcting your punch technique

👎 Cons: Less pinpoint accuracy

I found that people do much better overall with whole knuckle, you really can’t go wrong. But it is always good to learn the first two knuckles, especially if you box, and alternate between the two depending on the situation.

✅ If you’re fighting technically and out boxing an opponent- use the two knuckles.

✅ If you’re aggressive and trading, use your whole knuckle.

✅ On bag- use the whole knuckle. First two knuckles, wear out over the years.
