Fine Sorting is the 2nd step in the sorting process, where categories are sorted again, now by type and size.

Fine Sort Guidelines:
1)  Sort Similar Items together.   Using bins or piles, sort items on a tabletop by similarity.  For example, all the tape goes together, all the gauze goes together, etc.
If it is expired, dispose of the item properly

2)  Separate by exact size.  Now that you have all the bins or piles of similar items, sort into finer detail by separating out items so that ONLY EXACT SAME products are sorted together.  For example, 1” wide tape goes together, 2” wide tape goes together, 4”x4” gauze goes together, etc. (note that they CAN be different brands)

3)  “Cluster” exact items using a rubber band or bag (whichever fits best for the item).  Place these clusters into white boxes that have labels according to the category to which they belong (e.g., “IV/Arterial” or “Urology/GI” .
-OR-
“Bulk” exact same items in Brown Boxes (if there are enough to fit into a brown box).  Fill out Inventory Label completely (except “staff only” areas).
