Hi all. This time, "Can't you use an electronic piano? I would like to talk about what I think of as an electronic piano and a real piano. A friend of mine sent me a message the other day. He said, "My kids say they want to play the piano, but they can't play an electronic piano after all, right?" In addition, an adult who plays the piano also said, "Because my home is an electronic piano ... I..." First of all, what I want to say is that electronic pianos are not good! I mean. Why did your friend want your child to play the piano? Or why do adults juggle their busy chores and work hours to play the piano? Isn't this because it "enriches life"? In order to seek "the richness of life", we are influenced by the instrument that is the tool... It makes me sad. When it comes to electronic pianos, I often see people who say, "You can't be good at an electronic piano, and you can't be a professional. So if you're going to play the piano with an electronic piano, you should quit... I feel that..." The person who plays the piano himself seems to say sadly. What I want to tell you clearly is, "You don't have to quit at all, let's enjoy the music on the electronic piano!" "The richness of life" and "becoming a professional, making it a profession" seem to be completely different perspectives. I can understand very well that when you start or work on something, you feel that you have to achieve results – in this case, becoming a professional. However, if you are not careful about that, it seems to me that it will lead to "poverty in life". "I want to do it even if there are no results!" or "There is no reason, but I want to do it anyway!" Encountering something that makes you feel that way is the greatest achievement of your life, isn't it? Isn't that the most "rich" way to spend your life? Let's think away from the piano. "You can't become a professional with an electronic piano, so if you're not a real piano, you should stop playing." means "You can't become a professional even if you make fried rice in a frying pan, so if you don't use a wok, you should stop making fried rice." Isn't that the same thing? But even if we don't have a wok, we don't mind making fried rice and having fun. I'm sure many people don't feel guilty about making fried rice in a frying pan. But when it comes to the piano, don't you suddenly feel guilty about playing an electronic piano? There is no need for such a thing! Each person can choose how to deal with the piano. If you think about it that way, an electronic piano is an ideal option. If there were only real pianos, people who had given up on playing the piano due to housing conditions or neighborhood problems could enjoy music by having an electronic piano. I also use a model called YAMAHA's P45. I use it in combination with a real piano for practice, but it is useful at times when I can not make a loud sound. Come up with a new finger trick early in the morning and want to try it now! It is a big help at that time. Now, although electronic pianos are active in this way, it is also true that there are limits when it comes to playing classical music. I think the biggest reason for this is the difference in the correlation between "the sensation of the fingertips" and "the way the sound resonates". These two, "the sensation of the fingertips" and "the way the sound resonates", are completely different between an electronic piano and a real piano. I've experienced that firsthand. There was a time when I used to store the piano here in a different place to rebuild my house. At that time, of course, I couldn't practice with a real piano, so I practiced with Yamaha's P45 that I introduced earlier. I think it was about half a year. At that time, the orchestra was talking to me about playing Rachmaninoff's No. 2 Piano Concerto. It was my first repertoire, so I would go with a P45 and sometimes rent a studio or other place and touch a real piano. The concert somehow went well, but what I felt during the practice period was the gap between the "feeling of the fingertips" and the "way the sound resonates". With a touch like this, it sounds like this... There was a gap between my inner hearing, which I imagined, and the sound that came out. So, I felt that there was something that could only be achieved with a real piano. What I learned during this period was that up to about 85% of the time, an electronic piano would be sufficient, and the last 15% would be working on a real piano. Well, this time, "Can't you use an electronic piano, can't you get good at an electronic piano?" I have been talking about what I think of as an electronic piano and a real piano. In conclusion, that's all I want to say. "Never give up on enriching your life for the sake of the instrument of instruments!" Let's enjoy the piano together again!
