It's ANZAC day here today in Australia and how better to commemorate our service men and women than by making some homemade ANZAC biscuit to enjoy. The recipe that I have is from 1914 and it's super cheap to make them and very easy! This is a great biscuit to do with kids and you can make them at any time during the year.

This historical significance of these biscuits is that they would travel really well and wouldn't spoil easily, so they were often sent with soldiers on their long journeys. We thank all the men and women who have and do put their lives on the line everyday to protect the safety of us civilians. Lest we forget.

Serves: 24 biscuits.
Total Time: 10 minutes preparation + 15 minutes baking.
Total Cost - $2.11 ($0.08 per biscuit)

To make this recipe you will need:

190g Rolled Oats ($0.28)
150g Plain flour ($0.11)
165g Sugar ($0.17)
125g Butter ($1.40)
1 heaped Tbsp. Golden Syrup (you can use honey instead if you wish to) ($0.13)
1 tsp. Bicarbonate Soda ($0.02)
2 tablespoons hot water ($0.00)
