Hello viewers, this time I have another video of my Spain trip in June 2022 for you.
During the foward run I spent one night in Marseille. The next morning I took the train shown in the video. This train is a spanish high speed train of the series S100, which basically is a TGV with custom design.
The AVE 9731 was a product of the cooperation between Renfe and SNCF, which has been cancelled since 12.12.2022. Hence this connection belongs to the past right now. However Renfe is already doing test runs in France, in order to pick up the train connections again until summer 2023, that were omitted due to the end of the SNCF cooperation.
The first part of the journey contains the high speed railway LGV Méditerranée, where a speed up to 300 km/h is possible. But until Perpignan the train uses regional railways, because the high speed railway is still under construction. Taking a look at the map I saw that the railway goes along the mediterranean coast after Montpellier. So I decided to change my seat to the other side of the train, hoping to catch a great view of the coastline. Unfortunately it didn´t really measure up my expectations, because the coast is very flat and often hidden behind reed while on the other side there are beautiful lakes and mountain ranges.
Behind Perpignan the high speed rail begins, that takes us all the way to Madrid with a speed up to 300 km/h. After Figueres-Vilafant my seat change caused another problem: I had to leave the seat because it was reserved by other people. My own seat I had given up before was also taken already, so I had to change a few more times. That´s why the video has some missing parts between Figueres-Vilafant and Barcelona.
