Is Qur'an Recited For the Dead? Is Ya-sin Recited For the Dead?
Prof. Dr. Muhammet Nur Doğan

Reciting the suras such as Ya-sin, Mulk, from the Qur'an, and sending the expected mitzvah to the souls of the dead is an application that I consider to be one of the biggest insults to the Qur'an which is incompatible with Islam in any way. In principle, reciting the Qur'an and Mawlid and sending the expected mitzvah to the souls of the dead is the custom of Buddhist Turks before the adoption of Islam The Buddhist scriptures are printed and recited as a result of which they hope to be sent to the souls of the writers and to the antecedents.  After the Buddhist Turks became Muslim, they continued these traditions with the Qur'an and Mawlid. There are very serious studies on this subject in the way that this custom has passed from Buddhist Turks to Muslim Islamic culture.
In addition, the Qur'an, in no way, was sent to win a kind of bonus to each letter and to be sent to the souls of the dead but to the contrary, sent to be understood and followed. Qur'an uses the word chanting and when the Qur'an was not read, it is a kind of cursing by the verse. It is stated that those who believe in the book are the ones who recite the book. In this regard, the Qur'an must be perceived as a program sent by God to be understood, lived, and to fortify mind, and it should never be forgotten that it should be read, understood and lived as a guide of our lives as a bedside book.
