The Medieval period was a time of immense brutality when executions were carried out very often in a number of different ways. Some of the methods used were completely sadistic and shocking, and many attracted huge crowds to watch the deadly proceedings. Many people who crossed the King or Queen and were sentenced to death for treason were executed by axe or by sword, and some more bizarre methods included boiling alive and even drowning.
There were some very strange ways in which people would be killed. During the reign of Henry VIII, he boiled a cook alive! Also people were pressed alive and horrific rulers such as Vlad the Impaler ordered disgusting executions that saw thousand being killed in brutal ways. The Medieval times and Middle Ages were incredibly shocking and very different to todays times, and punishment was incredibly brutal.
