Today I will show you how to make very tasty Restaurant Style Lahori Mutton Karahi at home. It is one of the most popular Pakistani dish that you will come across almost every Pakistani restaurant menu anywhere in the world. Lahori’s enjoy eating at the restaurants and most restaurants open early in the morning for breakfast and close late at night after dinner. Lahore is famous for its culturally enriched food items. It’s impossible to be on diet there. People in Lahore are known as a food lover, which is why many new restaurants are constantly opening. If you visit Pakistan don’t forget to try Lahori Mutton Karahi Gosht.
Mutton Karahi is made by stir-frying small cubes of lamb or mutton with tomatoes, green chillies, ginger, and garlic in a Karahi, wok-like pan that gives the dish its name. I made it in a Karahi pan and the taste was so good and excellent. The meat was so tender, juicy, deeply marinated in the masala (gravy) and uniformly cooked.

You can cook mutton in many ways but when it comes to taste, Lahori Mutton Karahi is known as best. So, let’s start making this recipe which is part of most Pakistani cuisine and Indian cuisine restaurants in the word.

INGREDIENTS:

Mutton 1 kg
Onion 1
Large Tomato 4
Garlic Paste 1 tbs
Ginger Paste 1 tbs
Green Chilli 4 (Cut them long side)
Green Coriander 2 tbs
Mint Leaves 1tsp
Red Chilli 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric Powder 1/2 Tsp
Cinnamon 2 Sticks
Black cardamom 2
Cloves   4
Dry coriander Powder 1 Tsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Garam Masala 1tsp
Fenugreek seeds ¼ tsp (optional)
Yogurt 1 cup
Oil 1/2 Cup


Directions:
Add half garlic paste in the mutton and mix it well and set aside for one hour. This will remove all the smell from the mutton.
In a wok, add oil and heat it.
Add onion and fry them till light brown.
Add mutton and fry cook it for 10 minutes till the meat water dry.
Add Garlic paste, ginger paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, Cinnamon, Black cardamom and mix them. Cook it for 5 minutes.
Add tomatoes and cook them for 10 minutes. 5 minutes on high heat and 5 minutes on medium heat.
Add cloves, Fenugreek seeds, mix it.
Add one cup of water and cook it for 20 minutes on medium-high heat. Stir it every few minutes. Add more water if required.
Add yogurt and cook it for 10 minutes. If you want to cook fast use a pressure cooker and cook it for 5 minutes.
Check if the meat is tender. If not cook more as required.
Add dry coriander, garam masala, cumin seeds, half of the green chillies, mix it and cook for 5 minutes on medium heat until oil separates.
Garnish with fresh coriander, ginger, mint leaves and green chilli.


Served with fresh Naan or Roti.
