Triple jump is a difficult event to get right.
As well as the very specific conditioning needed - you also need to be able to produce long jumps when it matters in competition. Developing a robust model over many seasons of training is crucial - so that, for example, aspects such as phase ration (distances of the hop, step and jump) are patterned and consistent, your arm action is effective, and the contacts and trajectory of your jump optimised.
For many jumpers this takes time and a number of competitions to groove in. Coach John Shepherd (http://www.johnshepherdfitness.com/blog) looks at a top meet in the UK (British League Premiership) where one of his jumpers competed (Jonathan Ilori best of 16.28m) and discusses some of the crucial aspects of triple jump technique.
By seeing how other jumpers compete and seeing what they are good at and also what they need to work on will help you and your triple jumping.
