Carrying over straight from the
Carrying over straight from the outro of Oil Ocean, Plus add in a transition into Lava Reef where your character will board one of Oil Ocean's purple submarines and start on an epic flight straight towards Lava Reef. How this is even possible so quickly isn't clear. As Oil Ocean come's from Sonic 2's Westside Island, while Lava Reef takes place in the volcanic caves of Sonic 3 & Knuckles' Angel Island.
I guess that answer will be left to be revealed for another day...

The end for Act 2 in Lava Reef is upgraded as well, at least if you're using any character not named Knuckles. You board the rocket ship like usual before fighting Heavy Rider, but this time, the rocket launches itself towards Little Planet, and does so even while Rider is attack you (and like Magician, Rider is a female, too).
After defeating Heavy Rider and freeing another Egg Capsule, your character(s) then aim their attention towards the giant corrupted Little Planet from Sonic CD, which then flashes its lights back at our heroes. Such Death Egg vibes...
