Honestly, this was my first time making sweet pork so I hope everyone enjoys. Everyone has their own variation so let me know in the comments, whats your version? A lot of people add ingredients like cinnamon or five spice but I didn't use either. I think the Star Anise adds enough of that extra depth of flavor. And in case you're wondering, I like using pork shoulder instead of all pork belly because having some lean meat in it will give a nice bite to the dish instead of just soft and literally melting pork fat. I really like eating slow cooked pork meat!
Do you know that episode of The Simpsons when Homer accidentally boils his pet lobster then is crying at the table eating it and talking about how delicious the lobster is? That's how I feel when I eat soft and slow cooked pork fat. Haha. Can anyone relate?
