Vmax. train: 350 km/h
Vmax. railway: 300 km/h
Scheduled travel time: 2:30 h

621 kilometres within two and a half hours: this AVE-train is part of the fastest railway connection in whole Europe. Without any intermediate stops and a maximum speed of 300 km/h this train connects the two largest cities of Spain...and reaches an average velocity of 248,3 km/h.
But this railway connection is not only first in Europe when it comes to speed, during the journey it namely also reaches the highest point of the whole european high speed rail network. Between Calatayud and Guadalajara-Yebes the railway climbs up to 1217,6 metres above sea level while transiting the Sierra Ministra.
This video presents the whole journey by AVE 3662 between Barcelona Sants and the terminus Madrid Puerta de Atocha, nonstop, as mentioned earlier. Actual origin station of this train was Figueres-Vilafant and on the way to Barcelona it stopped at Girona. Madrid was reached with a delay of one and a half minutes. Somewhere during the trip the train got into very cloudy weather, therefore the video becomes a litte dark for a while, because I´m not able to change the ISO while recording.
The train is a spanish Class 103, which is a high speed train unit by Siemens, based on the german ICE 3 (Class 403). It is also known as "Velaro E". Built from 2002 to 2007, these trains only differ in details from the german ICE 3, however they have to be more robust in order to withstand the conditions of the Spanish high speed rail network.

Time indication:

0:01:39 Barcelona Sants
0:35:47 --- Camp de Tarragona
1:38:35 --- Calatayud
1:53:15 --- Highest point of the european high speed rail network
2:10:58 --- Guadalajara-Yebes
2:32:12 Madrid Puerta de Atocha

Have a nice trip!
