Rechargeable Clip-on Guitar Tuner by SNARK - Is it Accurate for Studio Work? & Can they Damage the Lacquer on Nitro-Cellulose Finished Guitars?
As I continue my guitar journey, and as I’ve mentioned previously, there are many accessories that can often be overlooked in the initial stages of all things guitar ownership. Keeping the guitar in tune is of course one of those areas, where we have a large choice of tuning products available to help.
Having recently bought my first guitar in over 40 years, a Fender Stratocaster - See Review -(V2: Playing Guitar 40 years on… My Fi...) I needed to get a hold of a guitar tuner to get me in perfect pitch since I wanted to re-learn scale patterns by following on-line tutorials. Having played the guitar for many years, in the past I was used to tuning my guitar by ear usually taking my ‘key’ from the keyboards player in the band.
After much searching I settled on the clip-on Snark Tuner, beginning with the battery version, which would then be later replaced by the rechargeable model seen in this review. This particular model is in my opinion better constructed than the latter, and feels more durable and holds its charge well. I also put it up against the TC Electronics Polytune 3 Tuner Foot-Pedal - See Review - (UB:6 TC Polytune 3 Mini Guitar Tuner ...) - to give a side by side illustration in regard to tuning accuracy. Yes, there is a big price difference between the two, foot pedal / clip-on unit manufacturing costs aside. For those who do recording work, particularly with digital based instruments then the comparison should prove interesting for some. While this video shows close-up easy to view illustrations of the tuner at work, it is not an exhaustive review and test, however it should help anyone who is considering a rechargeable clip-on tuner of this type, or indeed one of the Snark range... Enjoy!
