ATR is plotted as sub graph to the price graph. If today's high and low are higher than yesterday's close.True Range would be the difference between yesterday's close and today's high point. If today's low and high are lower than yesterday's close. True Range would be the difference between yesterday's close and today's low point. We take into consideration the gap-up and gap-down scenario.

When #Average True Range (ATR) is low, it signifies the volatility is low. If ATR moves upwards it signifies either the market started moving upwards or downwards. If the pace of the movement falls, the ATR will also fall. ATR is different for different security and also different for various time-frames. ATR can signal either an uptrend or a downtrend.
