Visit to NRM Shildon 'Locomotion' - Featuring A4s 60008 & 60010 - 31/10/12

A little late but nevertheless
A little late but nevertheless here is footage from my visit to the Shildon branch of the National Railway Museum 'Locomotion'. I visited partly because I'd not been there before but mainly I wanted to see the two repatriated LNER A4 4-6-2s nos.60008 'Dwight D Eisenhower' & 60010 'Dominion Of Canada' who have been brought back to the UK from the USA and Canada, in a move some thought would never happen, for the 75th Anniversary of 4468 Mallard's record breaking run in 1938 with celebrations taking place in 2013 including a get together of all six surviving A4s at York and Shildon. 60008 & 60010 will be staying in the UK for two years before heading back overseas and whilst they are here they will both be getting cosmetic restoration, 60008 will receive a full repaint of her current late BR livery whilst 60010 be turned out in full late 1930s Coronation livery, painted in garter blue, side valances reinstated, stainless steel tender lettering and cab numbering as well as being rebuilt into single chimney form and regaining her Canadian Pacific Railway type bell.
Anyway, that's enough of the A4s and we take a look around the rather large site looking at all the exhibits starting off with the welcome building which houses the original 1815 built 0-4-0 'Sans Pareil', one of the main rivals of Stephenson's Rocket in the Rainhill Trials. After that we see the other exhibits such as Soho House the home of Timothy Hackworth, Soho Shed, Goods, Junction and Coal Drops before arriving at the main building where all the locos are kept.
