Bodycam DUI Arrest - 19-Year-Old is Arrested for Her 2nd Alcohol Related Offense in 2024

On February 23, 2024, Pullman Police Officers were out near the campus of Washington State University dealing with a disturbance when Officer Harris observed a vehicle driving the wrong way on a one-way street.   The road was blocked by police vehicles, so Officer Harris was able to approach the 19 year-old driver on foot.   He states that he can immediately detect the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, but the woman initially denies consuming any alcohol.   Officer Leggett is called to perform standardized field sobriety tests.  The woman then submits to a portable breath test and the result is 0.06% BAC (which is 3 times the legal limit for someone under 21).   Officer Leggett places the woman under arrest for DUI, but Sgt. Gordon later pulls him aside and tells him that he doesn't have probable cause to arrest her for DUI.  They eventually agree to arrest her for being a minor driving a vehicle after consuming alcohol.   The woman then reveals that she was just arrested a short time ago for being a minor in possession of alcohol.  Court records shows that arrest took place on January 4, 2024.   A search of her fanny pack revealed a fake ID and a cannabis filled vape.   Her criminal case is still open.  All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
