Footwork Exercise: Fast to the back

If you want to be able to use a new technique in a match you also have to train it with high tempo and in realistic situations. The exercise "fast to the back" will help you to work on your explosivness and agility towards the rear court in a game like situation.

The exercise is actually quite easy. A feeder plays a shot the the center of the court, and the other players plays the shuttle back to the feeder. Then the feeder plays a long net shot with the same shuttle two one of the sides. The worker plays it back again and then the feeder is lifting the shuttle to the rearcourt. Now the worker has to try to be explosive as possible and get under and behind the shuttle in the rearcourt.


You can use many variations for that exercise. Of course you can do it on both sides and with straight and cross lifts.

The timing is a very important thing here and wait for the feeder to hit the lift before you actually turn you leg position and start. Otherwise the situation is not realistic anymore and you could just do normal multi shuttle feeding. A good idea is also to allow another net shot for the feeder, especially if he sees that the other player is moving back to early.
