Badminton Multishuttle Exercise: Smash & Follow Up

This Badminton Exercise will help you to move faster out of the corner after a smash, and therefore give you the chance to keep up the pressure or kill your opponents defensive shot.

In singles it is crucial, to get fast out of the corner, especially when you play fast attacking shots, because they give you very little time when the opponent is able to play it back. If you hit a hard smash, in most cases you opponent will play a straight, short defence, so you have to be ready to follow up to that corner, as fast as you can.

When you follow up fast enough and the defence is too high, you have a chance to kill the shot at the net, or at least keep up the pressure by being high at the net. To to that, bring your upperbody forwards during the smash, and try to get you left leg (for right handed players) way behind your center of gravity, so you are able to push forward

Multishuttleexercises can be extremly useful for speedtraining because you can force the player to go maximum speed. If you want to do speedtraining with exercises like this, do it in the beginning of your session when you are still fresh and fast, do not use more than 10 shuttles and take a long rest after every round (work rest ratio around 1:5)

If you want to go more for endurance take more shuttles, decrease the intensity and also shorten the breaks in relation to the time on court (work rest ratio around 1:1-3). The good thing about endurancetraining with multishuttle exercises is, that you can easily adjust the manage the intesity as well as the work and rest time.
