एक व्यक्ति क्यों पैदा होता है? पुनर्जन्म के कारण क्या हैं? जन्म-मृत्यु के चक्र को कैसे रोका जा सकता है? क्या है भग्य? वासनाओं से मुक्ति क्या है? इस एपिसोड में इन सभी विषयों पर चर्चा की गई है।
इस सिद्धांत को प्रस्तुत करने के लिए श्रीमद् भागवतम से चित्रकेतु की कहानी ली गई है। राजा चित्रकेतु के कई रानियां हैं लेकिन कोई पुत्र नहीं है। ऋषि अंगिरस एक यज्ञ करते हैं और प्रसाद को सबसे बड़ी रानी कृतद्युति को देते हैं, जो समय के साथ एक पुत्र को जन्म देती है। दूसरी रानियां ईर्ष्या के कारण साजिश करती हैं और बच्चे को मार देती हैं। माता-पिता का दुख अत्यंत होता है। उसी समय, ऋषि अंगिरस और ऋषि नारद वहां पहुंचते हैं और राजा को बताते हैं कि जो व्यक्ति मर चुका है, वह अब किसी के पुत्र नहीं है। इस प्रकार, वे चित्रकेतु को कर्म और पुनर्जन्म के सिद्धांत को समझाते हैं।

Why is one born? What are the causes of rebirth? How can one stop the cycle of birth and death? What is destiny? What is freedom from vasanas? All these topics are dealt with in this episode.
The story of Chitraketu from Shrimad Bhagavatam is taken to present this concept. King Chitraketu has many queens but no son. Rishi Angiras performs a sacrifice and gives the prasada to the eldest queen Kritadyuti, who, in time, gives birth to a son. The other queens, due to jealousy, conspire and kill the child. The sorrow of the parents knows no bounds. At that very time, Rishi Angiras and Sage Narada arrive there and explain to the king that the one who has died is on his onward journey and is not anyone's son now. Thus, they explain to Chitraketu the theory of karma and rebirth.
