Sully is an upcoming American biographical drama film directed by Clint Eastwood and written by Todd Komarnicki, based on the autobiography Highest Duty written by Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow about the safe landing of US Airways Flight 1549 known as "Miracle on the Hudson." The film stars Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart and Laura Linney. The film will be released by Warner Bros. with an expected release date of September 9th, 2016.
Looking first to the plot for the film. On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed one of the most remarkable emergency landings in aviation history when Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger skillfully glided US Airways Flight 1549 onto the surface of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. His cool actions not only averted tragedy but made him a hero and an inspiration worldwide. But the storm was yet to come, a storm which could ruin the life of a hero.

Looking quickly now to the production of the film. Principal photography on the film began on September 28, 2015 in New York City. On October 15, filming started in Atlanta, where a building in downtown Atlanta was transformed into a NYC hotel. Filming will also take place in North Carolina, Los Angeles and Kearny, New Jersey.
Interestingly, this is Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood’s first collaboration.
