Dunkirk is an upcoming historical drama-thriller film written, directed and co-produced by Christopher Nolan. The film will star Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and is set for release on July 21st, 2017.
Looking first to the synopsis for the film. The story is set in World War II during the evacuation of British, French and Belgian troops from the northern French city of Dunkirk. It has been specifically reported that the movie is supposedly a World War II film based on Operation Dynamo, which was a near-miraculous evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force BEF and other Allied troops from the French seaport of Dunkirk which took place from May to June.
Looking now to the cast for the film.
The cast will be led primarily by unknown actors, who are yet to be announced, with
Tom Hardy,
Kenneth Branagh and
Mark Rylance set to play supporting characters.
Harry Styles (One Direction/ 1D member) has joined the primary cast for the film.
Looking now to the production of the film. Co-produced by Marc E. Platt, Nolan, Emma Thomas and Pictures’ Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson. Shooting will begin in May 2016 on location at the sites where the events took place.
On January 1, 2016, Hans Zimmer announced he will be scoring the film. This marks the sixth collaboration between Zimmer and Nolan.
