Formation of Gujarat and Maharashtra. How the two states came into existence? Why were the two states divided? It has been 61 years since formation of Gujarat and Maharashtra were established. Gujarat and Maharashtra were earlier part of Bombay State. After India got independence in 1947, it was divided into two parts. One was Sindh and the other was Bombay State. what reason and why both the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra were formation from Bombay State?

Many states were formed under the States Reorganization Act 1956. Under this act Karnataka state was created for Kannada speaking people, while Telugu speaking people got Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, the state of Tamil Nadu was created for Malayalam speakers and Kerala for Tamil speakers.
