On Wednesday morning, January 26, the ambulance service called in the fire brigade for an unwell person. The fire brigade was asked on scene to bring the person from the higher level to the ground with the aerial platform. On site, it was suspected that the person would not be able to get into the bucket of the aerial platform. The fire brigade requested assistance from the large crane of the Haaglanden fire brigade. This crane, a Grove GMK4080-1, is unique for the Netherlands fire brigade. It is the only fire brigade crane in the Netherlands and can therefore also be deployed throughout the country if necessary. The crane with number 15-7489 is stationed at the Leidschenveen fire station and can be called up 24 hours a day. The crane has a boom length of 51 meters and can therefore lift people from great heights. For assistance to the ambulance service for hoisting a person, the small crane, as it is called within The Hague fire brigade, always pulls out. On the back of this hooklift vehicle with crane 15-7480 is the 15-7487, a special hooklift box with a cage in which a patient with a stretcher (but also a hospital bed) can be placed. The person is then often taken to the hospital in a MICU, a Mobile Intensive Care Unit. In the Haaglanden region, the crane is turned out as standard when reporting vehicles in the water and accidents involving trams. The engine of the Leidschenveen Fire Brigade is often involved, this is the 15-7430, which can also be seen in the video.

Due to the crowds and limited speed of the crane, it was picked up by the police en route and urgently escorted to the location of the incident. Two Audi Fast Intervention Vehicles of the Rotterdam traffic police piloted the crane safely and quickly through traffic. Once on site, it turned out that the patient could still be lowered onto the aerial platform. The crane was then packed again and driven to the Metaalhof fire station, which is not far from the location. Here is the stakes discussed again. The patient was downstairs and the MICU light of the RAV Hollands-Midden was waiting there, this MICU with call number 16-310 came from Leiden especially to take the person to the hospital. This was accompanied by an ambulance from Rotterdam-Rijnmond.
