3 stages of labor:

Stage 1 is the longest stage and can be broken down into early, active, and transition phases.

During early labor, contractions begin and the cervix starts to efface and dilate.

In the active phase, contractions become stronger and more frequent, leading to further dilation.

Finally, the transition phase is the most intense, as the cervix fully dilates to 10 centimeters.

Stage 2 is the pushing stage, where the cervix is fully dilated and the baby is pushed out.

This stage can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.

Stage 3 is the delivery of the placenta, which typically occurs within 30 minutes after the baby is born.

This stage is important to ensure that the uterus contracts and bleeding is minimized.

And that's it! The 3 stages of labor explained. Thanks for watching, and don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more informative videos.

Within the first stage there are three phases:

1. Early / latent phase (0-3cm dilated) - infrequent contractions

2. Active phase (3-7cm dilated) - contractions become longer, stronger and closer together (2-3 contractions within 10 minutes)

3. Transition (7-10cm dilated)
