Ep 45: Gregory Palamas [feat. Christiaan Kappes]

In this episode, we are joined with Fr. Christiaan Kappes to discuss the 14th century Byzantine theologian and mystic St. Gregory Palamas. Fr. Kappes is the Academic Dean, the Director of Intellectual Formation, Professor of Liturgical Theology, and Professor of Dogmatic Theology at Saints Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh. Fr. Kappes received his licentiate degree from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, he received his doctoral degrees from Saint Anselmo’s in Rome in Sacred Liturgy and received his PhD from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki in Orthodox Theology. He has written on the subject of both Gregory Palamas and Byzantine theology and on the reception of Thomas Aquinas in late Medieval Byzantium.
