In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view on the Trem Republicano (Republican train) from Salto to Itú in federal state São Paulo, Brazil in 4K/60 frames per second.
The Republican Train was inaugurated in 2020. It is a historic project that connects the cities of Itú and Salto and attracts thousands of visitors and tourists every year. With a modern and elegant design, the Republican Train runs 7.6 kilometres between the two towns, recalling the historic Itu Convention, Brazil's first republican alliance, which took place in 1873.
With capacity for up to 155 passengers, the rides aboard the Republican Train offer an unprecedented experience. During the journey, trained guides tell you about the history and curiosities of the railway, the cities of Itú and Salto, the region, the Republican Convention and, finally, the Proclamation of the Republic. The train operates from Friday to Sunday, with two return journeys between Itu and Salto. The Republican Train is operated by Serra Verde Express.
On 18 April 1873 (150 years ago), the city of Itu hosted the Itu Convention, which was considered to be the first official meeting of Republicans in the state of São Paulo. One of the most curious facts in the history of the Itu Convention is that the Ituana railway was a determining factor in the city's choice to host the event. The inauguration of the railway, linking the coffee-growing centre to Jundiaí and the Port of Santos, took place the day before the meeting (17 April). In Salto, passenger rail transport lasted until 1976, while freight transport was closed in 1987.
