In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil narrates the story of how Hindi became the official language of India. Lord Macaulay is one of the British officials who imposed English for education in India. When India got Independence the Constituent assembly members debated for a need of national language but due to the resistance of the southern states, Hindi became an official language along English. Every year, 14th of Sep is celebrated as Hindi Diwas to commemorate the adoption of Hindi in Devanagari script as one of the official language of the Union of India. On 26 January 1950, Hindi was recognised as an official language in Article 343 of the Constitution. Watch Complete Video to know the whole story
