Welcome back to ‘the bible says what’.  Today I will summarize Proverbs chapter 12, which contains 28 of Solomon’s proverbs.  I will give you another sampling of these, since there are many proverbs covering many topics.  Let me encourage you to read all of the rest of them soon.
Solomon wrote: Whoever hates correction is stupid.  But the righteous person will obtain God’s favor.  No one who is wicked will remain in the land, but the upright will never be uprooted.  A wife of noble character is a husband’s crown.  But a nagging disgraceful wife is like rot in his bones.  The wicked will be caught in their own word trap, but the speech of the righteous will help them escape many problems.  It is better to be an unimportant person with enough necessities, than pretend to be an important person but have no food.
Solomon continued, fools show their annoyance at once, but the wise will overlook an insult.  The words of the wicked pierce and cut like a sword, but the words of the wise bring healing. God hates lying lips, but he delights in the trustworthy person.  The fool blurts out everything he knows, but the wise person keeps his knowledge to himself.  Diligent hands will rule but the lazy person will be a slave.  Anxiety will weigh down someone’s heart, but a kind word will cheer it up.  The righteous person will choose his friends very carefully.  With the wicked, not so much.  And, the righteous person will treat all of his animals with kindness and respect.  The wicked are cruel toward his cattle, flocks, and pets.
The most important verse in this chapter is Proverbs 12:19 which states, ‘The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment..’
The thing I think the Lord wants us to understand after reading this chapter is that He encourages everyone to be righteous and wise, and not to be a wicked fool.  People should be patient and hold their tongue, but when they do speak they should bring healing with their words.  The righteous will take good care of their cattle, sheep, pigs, fish, and other animals and will never abuse them.  And the wise person will choose his or her friends very carefully.
Are you kind to your animals?  Do you speak words that heal people?  Are you a hard working trustworthy person?  Do you know the Lord… or more accurately stated… does the Lord know you?  Repent for your sin and turn to Jesus for salvation.  Jesus humbled himself and died on a cross to pay for your sin, and he Father raised Jesus from the dead.  God said if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and if you believe in your heart that the Father raised Jesus from the dead, you would be saved.  Why don’t you do that right now?
