Welcome back to ‘the bible says what’.  Today I will summarize Proverbs chapter 19, which contains 29 of Solomon’s proverbs.  Just like in some of the previous videos, I will give you a small sample of these.  Hopefully you will spend some time and read them for yourself.
Solomon wrote: It is better to be a poor man with integrity than a rich fool.  Wealth adds many friends but the poor man is separated from his only true friend.  The rich man’s friends only want gifts.  Whoever loves his own soul will get wisdom.  The fool hates his own soul.  A nagging wife is like a constant dripping, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.  The fool rages against the Lord, but doesn’t yet realize what he is doing.  He will soon enough.  The fool and liar will not escape God’s wrath.
Solomon continued: whoever is gracious to the poor man lends to the Lord.  God will repay that person for his good deed.  A man plans many things, but only by listening to God’s counsel will he succeed.  Kindness is much more desirable than harshness.  It is much better to be a poor man who tells the truth than a rich liar.  The fear of the Lord leads to life and it leads to satisfying sleep at night.  Whoever hits his father and drives away his mother is a shameful and disgraceful son.  Don’t forget.  Severe beatings will be given to fools in this life, and much worse will be given in the next life.
The most important verse in this chapter is Proverbs 19:14 which states, ‘House and riches are the inheritance of fathers; and a prudent wife is from the Lord.
The thing I think the Lord wants us to understand after reading this chapter is that it is better to be poor and to have integrity than to be a rich lying fool.  God will repay each person for what he has done.  Most of the rich person’s friends only want gifts, and aren’t real friends at all.  A poor person’s friend is real and doesn’t expect anything in return.  God wants people to know that they should be kind instead of harsh.  And God wants us to know that people should listen to His counsel to ensure their plans will succeed.
What kind of person are you?  Wouldn’t you want to be the kind of person that the Lord is pleased with?  Repent for your sin and turn to Jesus for salvation.  Jesus humbled himself and died on a cross to pay for your sin, and he Father raised Jesus from the dead.  God said if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and if you believe in your heart that the Father raised Jesus from the dead, you would be saved.  Why don’t you do that right now?
