Puzhehei, Yunnan🇨🇳 Mysterious Yi Village and Beautiful Karst Landscape (4K UHD)

Puzhehei (普者黑), located in the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Minorities Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan(云南), China, is a scenic area renowned for its idyllic karst landscape, which is even compared favorably to the famous Guilin scenery. The name "Puzhehei" comes from the Yi language, meaning "a pond teeming with fish and shrimp." Covering an area of 165 square kilometers, it features clusters of limestone peaks, over 200 karst caves, and natural lakes, with Puzhehei Lake, also known as "Pearl Lake," at its heart. This lake is part of a 20-kilometer long watercourse linked by about 70 lakes, surrounded by 300 distinct peaks. The area is a paradise for photographers and nature lovers, offering a tranquil environment away from the hustle and bustle of big cities. Visitors can explore the scenic area by traditional canoes made by the Yi people, and accommodations are available in simple cottages by the lakes. The Puzhehei Scenic Area is home to five ethnic minorities, including the Yi(彝族), Zhuang(壮族), Miao(苗族), Yao(瑶族), and Sani, who preserve their old folk customs and cultures. The best time to visit is from May to September, especially in July and August when the lotus flowers are in full bloom. The area also hosts the "Painted Face Festival" (Hualian Festival) around July 18, which lasts for about a month, offering visitors a glimpse into local traditions and celebrations.
