Dali Ancient City (大理古城), located in Dali City (大理市), Yunnan (云南), is a county-level seat of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in northwestern Yunnan, China. This historic city is administered through 12 township-level districts, with Xiaguan (下关镇) serving as the modern city center and Dali Town (大理镇), also known as Dali Old Town, being a major tourist attraction located 10 km north of Xiaguan.
Dali City is nestled in western Yunnan, approximately 250 km northwest of Kunming, the provincial capital. It is positioned in a transition area between the Hengduan ranges on the eastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau and the mountains of the western Yungui Plateau.
