In this Taiwan travel video, tag along as we navigate our way from one destination to another riding the local metro and ferries.

Taiwan Travel Itinerary, Day 2: Kaohsiung City [高雄市]
Tour Date: March 9, 2023
Walked from Kindness Hotel [康橋商旅-高雄站前館] to Formosa Boulevard Station [美丽岛站] to see the Dome of Light; and was delighted with a surprise light show there.
Took the metro to Bo-Ai Park and walked to the Lotus Pond, soaking in the sights along the way.
Had a leisurely stroll around the Lotus Pond [蓮池潭], visited the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas [龍虎塔], and checked out the temple across the street: Zuoying Tzu Chi Palace.
We looked for a place to have lunch but settled at 7-Eleven after checking out a few restos; as usual, convenience store food in Taiwan did not fail us. Not only were our meals filling, but they were also very tasty.
We then took a cab to the Gushan Ferry Pier [(鼓山渡輪站], and got on a ferry to Cijin Island [旗津島].
Our first stop at the island was a bike rental. We rented 2 electric bikes while two from our group rented a motorbike. The e-bike set us back 1,000 NTD for both. The shop owner asked for 1 valid ID (which they kept during the duration of the rent) and a local phone number. It is a good thing that we bought local SIM cards this time, instead of renting a Wi-Fi egg.
So we immediately headed to our first destination on the island, the Cihou Lighthouse (also known as Kaohsiung Lighthouse [高雄灯塔], and Cijin Lighthouse). The spot offers a stunning 360 view of the city and the South Seas of Taiwan.
Adjacent to the lighthouse is the Cihou Fort [旗後砲臺] (also known as the Cihou Battery). The fortress was built to guard the northern entrance to Kaohsiung Harbor.
A pathway from the fort leads down to our next stop: the Cijin Star Tunnel [旗津星空隧道]. This former military tunnel has transformed a lot through the years to its current state - a beautiful, star-filled passage with paintings that nod to undersea life. It opens to a breakwater that connects to a pathway that goes around the shore to the other side of the island. It also hosts the monument built for Dr. James Laidlaw Maxwell, a missionary who made a significant contribution to religion and healthcare in Taiwan 145 years ago.
Riding the e-bike again, we headed to the Rainbow Church, which isn't really a church, but rather a chapel-like structure that frames its picturesque background. It has become a popular site for wedding photos, as well as Instagram shots.
After a brief time of photo op, we rode our e-bikes back to the shop just in time for the shop’s closing and got on the ferry across the street again to head back to the mainland.
Hungry again upon arrival at the pier, we immediately walked to the nearest metro station - Sizihwan [西子湾站] - and took train rides to Kaohsiung Arena Station - the nearest one to the Ruifeng Night Market [瑞豐夜市] for some street food.
Energy all used up, after we filled up real good with food and sights, we took the metro back to our hotel and called it a day.
