These golden balls may seem to look like regular donuts but they are made up of poi, a sticky paste made from starchy vegetables, and mochiko or sweet rice flour. The poi mochi are deep-fried until golden brown and have a soft, fluffy, and chewy texture inside! You can also coat your poi mochi however you want, whether glazes or sugar!

Ingredients:
8 oz mochiko, sweet rice flour
½ lb poi
⅔ cup sugar
¼ cup water, (or coconut milk)
5 cups oil

⬇️ How to make Poi Mochi ⬇️
0:09 Heat cooking oil over medium-high heat to about 375 degrees F.
0:14 Combine poi, sugar, mochiko flour, and water. Mix until well combined.
0:27 Using a small cookie scoop, place one tablespoon of dough into the hot oil.
0:29 Fry for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
0:34 Remove poi mochi from hot oil when cooked and place on a paper towel. Remove excess oil and serve when done.
