How to make paper clay with newspaper or other waste paper without glue or joint compound but strong and can be used as paper mache clay?
What to do if you don't have clay or PVA glue to make craft like me now?
Well, this situation make me think of the basic.
How to make strong homemade clay without glue other than salt dough? Yup! It should be paper clay I think.
But, most of paper clay using glue or joint compound until I saw video from Red Ted Art where there is no glue used to make the clay. Yayyy... perfect for my situation. (I put her video link here if you are interested. How to make Paper Clay - Newspaper or...

Let me modify the recipe and make it Clayitnow's version.
So, here I am sharing my experiment making clay using newspaper pulps. I choose newspaper because many of you ask me if you can use newspaper for my homemade clay recipe (video link: Best Homemade Clay Recipe (Retake)). Of course not because it was not planned for it.
Honestly, this is my first experience working with newspaper. First, I cut the paper to small pieces, put it in a bowl and pour hot water on it. Gosh...there is unpleasant smell came out of it. So, I'll put on mask next time when I do this step.
I didn't soak the paper overnight but just few minutes until the water cool down. Then, crush the paper to fine paper pulp.
Most of paper clay recipe need to squeeze the water out of the pulp. But, I leave the pulp wet then mix it with plain flour, glutinous rice flour and salt.
The beauty of this recipe is, you decide the amount of the paper pulp, water and flour.
When you use drier paper pulp with less flour, you'll have darker and stronger clay.
When you use more flour with wetter paper pulp, you'll have whiter and smoother clay.
You decide the clay texture and consistency. You will never fail.
In this video, you'll see I have 3 different clay composition.
And, always make small quantity of clay - just enough for your craft. Keep the balance of dry paper pulp in container which you can use it to make another batch of clay next time.
