Some love them, some hate them...but Scorpions are a fan favorite when watching elite stunting. They are challenging to master because of the great deal of flexibility, balance, and strength required to perform them properly. In order to get a scorpion, athletes must utilize not just flexibility, but also STRENGTH. Endless stretching is a common mistake that cheerleaders make and unless we shift our focus to include more strength based exercises...we will stop growing. Scorpions require flexibility through the front of the hip, the thigh, the abdomen, and the upper back and shoulders. However, they ALSO require STRENGTH in the lower back, glute, hamstring, and arms.
