In this video you will learn how to count from 0 to 10 in French. Do practice these as much as possible before moving on to other numbers as they are the main building blocks for spelling out any number!

Also, you will notice final consonants are usually silent, so don't pronounce them. Focus on what you hear more than on what you see as you will very rarely need to spell out these numbers in letters anyway. :)

Mastering listening and speaking skills when it comes to numbers is critical if you want to study for any official exam, such as French GCSE, the DILF, the DELF A1 or the DELF Prim' A1.1. For example, in listening tests you will be asked to understand platform numbers at train stations, airport gates numbers, people's age, or even parts of phone numbers. Examiners will also expect you to be able to say common numbers in a conversation without thinking for too long (such as your age,  the number of people in your family as well as their age, etc.). You will also need numbers to understand prices or quantities, often used in role plays during French exams (as well as in real life if you're learning French for tourism, of course!).
