In this video we will learn the ordinal numbers up to thirty. If you want to learn more about ordinal numbers, please check the long version of this video here: Ordinal numbers in French - Les nombr...

In the description of the long version of this video, you will also see how to spell these numbers in letters.

For now, we will only see the short form to spell these numbers:

premier = 1er = 1st
deuxième = 2e = 2nd
troisième = 3e = 3rd
etc.

In some places, you may sometimes see 2ème and 3ème used instead of 2e and 3e, but you shouldn't use those as this is not the correct typography to write these ordinal numbers.

When you're in France, you're likely to see those to number districts in Paris, or floors in a building. When you see the name of districts, they will often be written using the "Roman numeral" system, so you may see them spelled like this:

1er = Ier
2e = IIe
3e = IIIe
4e = IVe
5e = Ve
6e = VIe
7e = VIIe
8e = VIIIe
9e = IXe
10e = Xe
11e = XIe
12e = XIIe
13e = XIIIe
14e = XIVe
15e = XVe
16e = XVIe
17e = XVIIe
18e = XVIIIe
19e = XIXe
20e = XXe
21e = XXIe
etc.

Roman numerals are fairly common in written French (especially on older buildings), so if you don't know them very well please make sure to review them before your trip to France.
