STORYLINE:

The leaders of the two main Iraqi Kurdish factions met in Baghdad on Wednesday.

Jalal Talibani, leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) held a meeting with Massoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), in the city's al-Hyatt hotel.

Between them the two groups control the northern part of Iraq.

Many of Iraq's opposition leaders are in Baghdad at the moment to discuss the shape of the country's future government.
