I shared that I was building bookshelves and one of you asked if I would film a quick video. Instead, I filmed a 10-minute video, taking you through the process. This is how to build simple plywood bookshelves using a tablesaw and dado joints cut on a router.

Last week I was hired to make some bookshelves for a school. They needed to be affordable but strong. I used dados instead of just flat-screwing the edges, as they provide support and strength and lock the shelves together much better. Four of these shelves are 9.5 inches deep and have 11.25" clearance between shelves, fitting most normal books. The other two shelves were made to fit taller books and have about 15" tall shelves.

It's not hard to build these or to cut dadoes with a router. I'm no expert on joinery and I did just fine. Also, this is my first test of my new DeWalt 7480 portable tablesaw - it performs like a champ.
