Ever since our hospital reimbursement
Ever since our hospital reimbursement depended on patient satisfaction, customer perception and approval have been a huge topic; especially for nurses, who are in direct patient care. I have mixed feelings about this, I know customer service is important. But, in a hospital a patient’s perception is not always correct. Additionally, this places doctors and nurses in uncomfortable situations especially concerning pain medications…
So ultimately, I like the idea that they are focusing on our patients, however, I do not think it is correct that part of the bill will be either paid or not paid based on this perception. In this video I explain a situation of a patient who was drowsy and forgetful. However, one person complained about a perception which was incorrect and suddenly there are people coming at me from all corners.
I want to share this with you, because I know that whenever I experience things like this (and I have many similar stories lol). That you probably also will encounter situations that you may be blamed for that were beyond your control, or you didn’t even know about them. I hope you find comfort in this story and also find the patients to simply solve the situation that has now become apparent to you and then leave it alone.
I think what makes a lot of nurses mad or miserable is that situations happen and then they tell everyone and their brother about how they were wrongly treated. I know it may seem like I’m doing that here in this video (just realized that lol). However, that is not the case, because I did not discuss this with my coworkers and I shared it here with you to help you understand that these types of situations happen to everyone.
